DOUBLE: General Blucher and Anduril
General Blucher supplied Alan Munro with a poignant victory last month and the duo are taken to double up at Lingfield on Friday.
Munro will always have a special allegiance to the Marju gelding, who was responsible for his comeback victory following the jockey's health problems.
And while the three-year-old would not be be considered one of the brighter lights of the Peter Chapple-Hyam operation, General Blucher still looks a good thing on his handicap bow.
Seven furlongs was considered too short on his debut last December as he came home a staying-on third.
The decision was last month taken to step up to a mile and a quarter, which proved sage as Munro and his partner defeated Smooth Sovereign by three-quarters of a length.
Mark Johnston's camp would argue their runner-up endured win-depriving traffic problems that day but General Blucher was grass-green and is entitled to improve in the one-mile lingfieldpark.co.uk Handicap.
Frivolous did enough last season to warrant support in the intercasino.co.uk Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Kempton.
An encouraging fourth in a decent little race at Newbury, before which she showed up well on debut at Newmarket, would intimate that seven furlongs will be ideal on her return to the track.
Anduril is far from a straightforward individual but will be on the straight and narrow with a first-time eyeshield at Wolverhampton.
The seven-year-old illustrated his tempestuousness at Southwell earlier this month when he hung badly left before sticking on for fourth behind West End Lad.
He is not without ability, though, and looks quite well treated if the facial accessory does the trick in the Packed Full of Fun - That's Pontin's Handicap.
Aux Le Bahn has been a case-study in consistency and deserves more than a cursory glance in the Berkshire Stand Bookshop Novices' Hurdle at Newbury.
Noel Chance's seven-year-old won two bumpers and carried on the good work over timber, having picked up place cash on three starts.
The scopey gelding was second to Cryptic over an extended three miles at the Berkshire track at the start of the month and will not face such a daunting rival this time.
